Course Description
This module provides the foundation for understanding the learner, their development and the psychology of learning. Trainee teachers need to understand the different aspects of pupil development and how these influence the teaching and learning process. Specifically, the development of the pupils' psychosocial, intellectual, moral, and self-concept will be addressed through the relevant theories of intellectual development. Application of psychological principles and learning theories to classroom learning; understanding how pupils learn and how some pupils fail to learn; proactive approaches to motivate and enhance learning; creative and critical thinking and problem-solving skills will also be covered in the module.
