Course Description

The module seeks to provide course participants with the knowledge, skills, and understanding of developmental guidance in enhancing students' learning, social interaction and personal growth through group processes. Specifically, it looks at the psychosocial processes underlying interactions in groups. Topics include group dynamics; group theories; developing effective groups; team building; developing group norms; life stages of a group; communication in groups; the development of leadership; consensus decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict management in groups; group influences on individual behavior; helpful and unhelpful group behaviors. Participants will learn these through a variety of group activities, group discussions, simulated group guidance practice (role play), and lectures.
Course Objectives:
On completion of this module, course participants will be able to:
